Informal audio description by plant-lovers is woven into the 1979 documentary The Secret Life of Plants, which has a soundtrack created by Stevie Wonder using a similar approach. It is screened without the picture, inviting “viewers” to sit in relative darkness together and listen.

Aislinn Thomas (she/her) is an interdisciplinary artist whose practice includes video, performance, sculpture, installation, and text. She culls material from everyday experiences and relationships, creating work that ranges from poignant to absurd. Many of her recent projects respond to disability. She is grateful to work alongside and in the legacy of so many who treat access and survival as spaces for creative acts, experimentation, and pleasure.
