The Truck of Millions of Years

John Haney

Victoria Park

The Egyptian sun-god Ra was said to travel across the sky each day in a solar barque, the Ship of Millions of Years. At night, when the sun disappeared, the boat travelled through the underworld, to appear again the next morning. Referencing Ra’s vessel, which embodies both lightness and darkness, this installation teeters on an edge between hope and despair.
